Through the year, Splash FM teams up with Worthing-based Saywell International, in order to give a special treat to some really deserving individuals or groups
Every quarter, we have two lots of £500 to spend on some of the most deserving people in the area - as we "Spoil Someone Rotten".
We've just announced our latest winners, who were revealed at a special presentation at Saywell International HQ on the 16th of December
Our latest 'spoilees' are:
Paul and Zena Matthews, who have been running the 'Zaps Youth Group' for fifteen years at St Mary's Church, Goring. As well as having weekly meetings, they also organise a number of events such as bowling, fireworks, pottery painting, camps and trips to football matches. They were nominated by Charlotte Newell, on behalf of all members past and present. In order to spoil them rotten, Paul and Zena will be getting a break away by themselves, without having 20-30 children in tow (for once!)
Zena and Paul are pictured above, along with Peter Saywell from Saywell International (centre)
Alex Walter (left), who was nominated by his wife Leigh. Alex was diagnosed with Crohns Disease back in 2006, and had to undergo an operation a year later. Despite living with Crohns, Alex works full time as a Paramedic Practitioner for the Ambulance Service. Away from work, he's a 'first responder', and also teaches paediatric first aid at various post-natal groups in the Worthing area. He's been a volunteer for the British Red Cross since the age of five, and trains their ambulance crews for the Kent and Sussex region. He also carried out the role of Chairman for the Brighton and Hove Duke of Edinburgh Awards for over three years.
Alex is a big fan of landrovers, and will be treated to a special day out that is suitably Landrover related!
Congratulations to our latest winners. 'Spoil Someone Rotten' will return in the new year, so keep listening to Splash FM for details of when nominations open again. If you know of an individual or group that deserves a treat, it could be them next time!.
