The Lancing & Sompting Lions Club are holding their inaugural Fun Flower Show at Lancing Parish Hall, starting at 2pm.
Classes will include the most humorous vegetable, miniature tray garden for the children, best photo of Lancing & Sompting, the best sponge for the bakers among you together with the more traditional flower and vegetable classes. Jack Rudman of Lancing Horticultural Society has kindly agreed to be our judge.
The emphasis is strongly on the 'fun' aspect. Further details and the Show schedule/entry form are available from Lancing & Sompting Charity Shop, 4 Station Parade, Lancing. The closing date for entries is July 17th. Exhibits may be delivered from 10am - 11.30am, judging will take place from 12 midday.

A Rock Pooling event is taking place in Shoreham. This is a great event for kids and the young at heart who enjoy messing around in water. Meet at the Old Fort near Kingston Beach at 9.30am. The event is organised by the Friends of Shoreham Beach and will have marine biologist Steve Savage and coastal ranger John Knight on hand to help those taking part to find out about the sea creatures that live in the tide pools and the birds that frequent the beach. Afterwards there will be a beach art competition for children.Take a bucket and a net and, if the weather is fine, a picnic as well. A celebration of ukulele genius. Wukulele Festival presents a weekend of extraordinary talents from across the world including Bob Brozman (USA), Richard Durrant (UK), Ukulelezaza (Belgium), Yan Yalego (France) and Sophie Madeleine (UK). As well as the main concert performances, sixty children from Whytemead First School are collaborating with songwriter Sean O'Hagan (of The High Llamas and Stereolab fame) to create a special new work for ukulele which will be premiered at St. Paul's Centre on 8th October. Then there are workshops for every level of player and an extensive fringe of free events is planned, promising a weekend of “uke” activity with something for everyone. The friends of Herons Dale Primary School are holding a race night to raise funds for a hoist for some of the disabled children.The event will start at 7p.m until 11p.m and is being held at the Shoreham community centre, Pond Road, Shoreham by Sea. Tickets can be purchased from the Shoreham community centre or by calling 01273 464018, as from the end of August.
